Recent projects - July 2017

July 31, 2017

July 2017 

- orchestrated and music directed a 2-hr long new musical about reproductive rights that was performed at the Connelly Theater in the East Village, as part of the SheNYC Summer Theater Festival! Had a blast and learnt lots, such as how to conduct while playing the piano, and am now way more fluent in Logic Express!

- completed second workshop and presentation of The Lorikeet, a new children's musical set in colonial HK. I music direct and play a buffalo! Full production happening in Sept at The Flea Theater

- Bullet Catchers had a successful and very well-received opening night performance and runs till Aug 05 at Judson Church. I music directed i.e. worked on the acapella arrangements for 2 songs. The play explores the role of women in combat and it's a really interesting, informative and moving piece performed by a wonderful group of actors, & I am honoured to be a part of it. 

- taught at Play On! Studios' summer camps, where the kids performed The Paper Bag Princess and a revue of Shel Silverstein's poems and stories. 

Upcoming projects - May, June

May 01, 2017

May 2017 

- music directing/accompanying a workshop of a new musical The Human Incubator! Staged reading May 6,7 at DCTV. To be presented in full via SheNYC Arts in July 2017 at the Connelly Theater! 

- acting in an absurdist play by Joshua young with the Rhapsody Collective, going up May 21 at The Tank! 

- doing a show with wonderful friends/folks at The Brick on May 29,30! Clowning involved whoohoo! Thanks to working on this show, I discovered Bill Irwin and his show The Regard of Flight which is amazing!

- more violin playing in the pit for a new musical The Edge of the Universe at the PIT Loft, May 2, May 7, May 14! 

June 2017

- the children I teach at Atlantic Acting School get to perform the musical they've been working on all semester, You're a good man, charlie brown, for their parents! The children I teach at Play On! Studios will also have their Creative Drama and Choir showcases for their family/friends! I love my jobs! 

- the wonderful Co/lab Theater Group performs at the PIT on June 11 and I get to accompany them on the piano, which I've done all semester! Co/lab is a non-profit dedicated to providing individuals with developmental disabilities a creative and social outlet through the theater arts, and they are wonderful.

April 01, 2017

March 2017

- acted in/music directed and accompanied a workshop presentation of a new musical for children The Lorikeet, by EllaRose Chary and Sooyeon Lee, produced by the Flea Theater. To be performed in full in Fall 2017 

- recorded violin/keys for Oedipus on the Beach, a band that has played at various music lounges like Muchmore's and Fat Baby

April 2017

- playing the violin as a PIT musician at the PIT! (people's improv theater) for Elias Rubin's Edge of the Universe, a magic school bus musical extravaganza! Upcoming show dates: May 2, May 7, May 14

- acted in a one-night only performance of a new play by Joshua Young (of The Playwriting Collective) Godzilla vs Ex-girlfriends at Dixon Place 

Choreographed and danced in solo piece at the Actors Fund Arts Center as part of NACHMO

I made a little 5-minute solo piece about my experience moving to the US and my (as well as many others') ongoing process of trying to get the O1 Artist Visa, given to "alien individuals with extraordinary ability".
